The internet is flooded with information that is artificially generated and often incorrect. Bots and AI produce texts, images and interactions that depict our sphere of reality convincingly up to a certain point. The more common this AI output becomes, the more information loses quality.
In the digital public sphere, truth is often derived from visibility, algorithmic weighting and social recognition. So how – amid this excess, automation and strategic manipulation – can we still make reliable judgments? In the end, according to the “dead internet theory”, information will collapse completely. And control over this is in the hands of just a few technology corporations. Historically, the decay of institutions is accompanied by loss of knowledge. Are we already experiencing the beginning of such a collapse? Host: Stephanie Rohde
