In a time when the political camps are becoming ever more entrenched, the political and public discourse is increasingly marked by radical intransigence. Urgent issues are debated fiercely but without any results being achieved. This has consequences – for our society and our democracy. In her books (“I Feel You”, “Radikale Kompromisse” [“Radical Compromises”]), journalist Yasmine M’Barek takes an analytical and constructive look at political empathy and the art of compromise. She shares the stage with former FDP minister Volker Wissing, whose book Verantwortung [“Responsibility”] calls for a fundamental democratic stance that has greater influence on our actions than political trench warfare. Together, they talk about democracy, the culture of debate and political disagreements before and after the end of Germany’s “traffic light” coalition government. Host: NN
