Liberal democracy is under pressure in many countries; people are becoming more skeptical about democratic processes. And many citizens are getting increasingly angry. Do we need to rescue our democracies?
Would it be a good idea to have more direct democracy like in Switzerland, even if it does not provide many answers to climate change or social disparity? And even though turnout for referendums is mostly low? Is it possible that democracy has passed its peak? Or is it still “the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time”, as Winston Churchill once put it?
