Born in 1973, Barbara Bleisch studied philosophy, German literature and religious studies in Zurich, Basel and Tübingen. She obtained her doctorate at the Center for Ethics at the University of Zurich, investigating questions of global justice. Since 2010 she has been the host of the program “Sternstunde Philosophie” for the Swiss television broadcaster SRF. And since 2013 she has been a columnist at “Philosophie Magazin” in Berlin. Bleisch is currently academic-in-residence at the Collegium Helveticum at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH). She is also a lecturer in Advanced Studies of Applied Ethics at the Center for Ethics at the University of Zurich as well as in the “Philosophy and Management” program at the University of Lucerne. Her most recent publications include “Why We Owe Our Parents Nothing” (2018), “Familiäre Pflichten” [“Familial Obligations”] (2015) and “Ethische Entscheidungsfindung” [“Ethical Decision-making”] (2014).
