“Even tomorrow we might no longer be here!” Nothing in Israel has been the same since October 7, 2023. While sirens screamed in Tel Aviv, the Israeli government waged a war that was killing even more people. Over one and a half years have passed since then. The horrific months of war were followed by a fragile ceasefire. Is there a future we can still believe in today? In Wir spielen Alltag [“Pretending it’s Normal”], author Lizzie Doron (“Who the Fuck is Kafka?”), who has long fought for peace and understanding, describes life in a state of emergency. In the midst of fear, loss and political divides, she writes about the reality of a traumatized society. About encounters with those who are grieving, absurd moments in air-raid shelters, and silence between friends on both sides of the conflict. German text: Nina Kunzendorf; Host: Shelly Kupferberg
