The cornerstones of the geopolitical world order have been shaken. While Trump in the White House presses ahead with the breakdown of the West, Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine continues to rage in eastern Europe. These upheavals raise important questions: What does the global transition mean for Germany’s national identity? And how, in the face of these new and multifarious challenges, can we actively shape our domestic and foreign policies? Political scientist Herfried Münkler examines these questions in his new geopolitical review, Power in Transition. On the phil.COLOGNE stage, he meets Nicole Deitelhoff, a political scientist and expert for peace and conflict research. They discuss the new role of Germany and Europe in the 21st century conflicts between the great powers. Host: Wolfram Eilenberger
