In our culture, the eyes dominate and seeing is considered the most important sense. We want to look at things under the light, see as clearly as possible – we do not want to be confused cave dwellers. When we visualize something, we see the world as apart from us; we look at it like an object. But with hearing, it is completely different. If you are listening, you are already right in the middle of things. Seeing notices, but hearing dives in. Our ears connect us differently to the world and to our fellow humans. People who are good listeners do not just pay attention to what is, but also to that which is to come. What is the art of listening? How can there be understanding between people who are very different? With Giovanni Maio (philosopher, University of Freiburg); Host: Jürgen Wiebicke
