Believing in God – a good idea? Manfred Lütz, Britta Müller-Schauenburg and Bernd Stegemann on faith in our secular times
with Britta Müller-Schauenburg Manfred Lütz Bernd Stegemann Joachim Frank
Theologist and philosopher Britta Müller-Schauenburg appears to have taken a somewhat anachronistic path. She left her life as a scientist to become a nun at a time when more and more people are turning away from faith and the church. Dramatist Bernd Stegemann is not religious, either – and yet he sees godlessness as the evil of our times. In What Remains of Faith, he claims that belief in God has been replaced by fanaticism, fundamentalism and apparently absolute truths. In the view of theologian Manfred Lütz (most recent publication: The Meaning of Life), Christian values in particular, such as tolerance, compassion and internationality, are the best antidote to extremism. Together, the three undertake an inventory of faith in the present day. Host: Joachim Frank
