Very few countries in the world are as inequitable as Germany: Only the USA and China have more superrich residents – and the gap between the richest and the poorest is widening further. Criticism of the growing social inequality is often dismissed as a “debate based on envy”, but this divergence is threatening our social cohesion and our democracy. So it’s high time to talk money! And who better to discuss this than Julia Friedrichs, author of the book Crazy Rich. She visited the yachts and luxury villas of the superrich to take a critical look behind the marble façades. On stage, she is joined by philosopher Christian Neuhäuser, whose book Gewalt der Ungleichheit [“Violence of Inequality”] shows that societies that allow extreme inequality also have extreme structural violence. A discussion about wealth, power and fairness. Host: Wolfgang M. Schmitt
