A guide for the big questions – Alena Buyx and Norbert Kron on ethical decisions in the face of life and death
When we are confronted with illness or death, we often face overwhelming alternatives. In her book Living and Dying, Alena Buyx, medical ethicist and former chair of the German Ethics Council, develops an intelligent, realistic guide that helps us to better navigate our way through existential emergencies – and ultimately make good decisions. For example, when it comes to issues such as prenatal diagnostics, assisted suicide and the nuances of caring for aging parents. The latter is a topic covered by author Norbert Kron. His book Sometimes It’s Even Funny: My Mother, her Long Life and I is full of tragedy, comedy and wisdom about love, family and human existence. Together, Buyx and Kron will explore life’s big questions from a personal and ethical perspective. Host: Gert Scobel
