About Michael Hüther
Prof. Dr. Michael Hüther has been Director of the German Economic Institute since July 2004. He completed his studies in economics and medieval and modern history at the University of Giessen. After earning his doctorate, he became a research assistant in 1991 and Secretary General of the German Council of Economic Experts in 1995. In 1999, he joined DekaBank as Chief Economist and became their Head of Economics and Communications in 2001. He was awarded an honorary doctorate at EBS Business School in Oestrich-Winkel in August 2001 and has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TÜV Rheinland AG since April 2019.
