Which freedom do we want? Christoph Möllers meets Ulf Poschardt
As political tension increases and society becomes more polarized, the debate around freedom becomes more urgent. What notions of individual and societal freedom are in conflict with each other today? Ulf Poschardt, journalist and editor of the daily newspaper “Die Welt”, identifies a new dominant social characteristic: Shitbürgertum – “shit citizenship” – which describes those who, in the space between arrogance and submissiveness, are primarily concerned with their own interests. Philosopher and constitutional lawyer Christoph Möllers (Degrees of Freedom, The Possibility of Norms) examines where the boundaries might lie between liberalism, normativity, responsibility and the common good. Both ask: Is there something to learn from the international success of the libertarian pioneers? What kinds of freedom are conceivable in the 21st century? And which are desirable? Host: Svenja Flaßpöhler
