What’s happening in America? With Claudia Brühwiler, Claus Leggewie and Yascha Mounk

What’s happening in America? No question is more urgent or more alarming. Yet, this worry is not completely new. Back in 1966, during the Vietnam War and the student protests, the magazine “Partisan Review” sent a questionnaire to leading intellectuals. With a “good deal of anxiety about the direction of American life”, they asked: “Does it matter who is in the White House?” – “How serious is the problem of inflation? The problem of poverty?” – “What is the meaning of the split between the Administration and American intellectuals?” – “Where do you think our foreign policies are likely to lead us?” – “What, in general, do you think is likely to happen in America?”
Using this legendary questionnaire as a starting point, political scientists Claudia Brühwiler, Claus Leggewie and Yasha Mounk develop a picture of the current situation in the USA. Host: Wolfram Eilenberger
