“When is it time to go?” – on fear, responsibility and belonging. With Jagoda Marinić and Michel Friedman
When does a vague feeling of uncertainty become the concrete question of whether to go or stay? In Germany today, many Jews, Muslims and people with non-white skin tones feel increasingly threatened by antisemitism and racism. When everyday racism becomes a noticeable reality, it fundamentally changes many people’s feeling of safety. Jagoda Marinić and Michel Friedman ask what this development means for the feeling of belonging, for trust in state and society. And what responsibility do politics, media and civil society bear? What needs to happen so that Germany remains a place where diversity is not only proclaimed, but also protected? And, not least, the existential question: When does uncertainty turn into a decision to leave, even a country like Germany?
