About Stefan Weidner
Stefan Weidner was born in 1967 and studied Islamic studies, philosophy and German literature in Göttingen, Damascus, Berkeley and Bonn. From 2001–2016 he was editor in chief of the multilingual cultural magazine Art & Thought/Fikrun wa Fann. For his work, he has won accolades such as the Clemens Brentano Prize, the Johann Heinrich Voß Prize and the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding. Stefan Weidner lives in Cologne. Hanser has published his works “Beyond the West: An Appeal For a New Cosmopolitan Mindset” (2018) and “Ground Zero: 9/11 and the Birth of the Present” (2021).
