About Peter Sloterdijk
Peter Sloterdijk was born on June 26, 1947, to a German mother and Dutch father. From 1968 until 1974, he studied philosophy, history and German literature in Munich and at the University of Hamburg. Since the 1980s, Sloterdijk has been working as a freelance writer. His 1983 book “Critique of Cynical Reason” was one of the best-selling philosophical books of the 20th century. Sloterdijk is emeritus professor of philosophy and aesthetics at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, where he succeeded Heinrich Klotz as rector, serving from 2001-2015.
