About Peter Sloterdijk

Peter Sloterdijk, born in 1947 to a German father and a Dutch mother, studied philosophy, history and German studies in Munich and at the University of Hamburg from 1968 to 1974. Sloterdijk has worked as a freelance writer since the 1980s. His work "Critique of Cynical Reason", published in 1983, is one of the best-selling philosophical books of the 20th century. In 1987, he presented his first novel, "The Magic Tree". Sloterdijk is professor emeritus of philosophy and aesthetics at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe and succeeded Heinrich Klotz as its rector from 2001 to 2015.
