About Markus Gabriel

Markus Gabriel was born in 1980 and studied in Bonn, Heidelberg, Lisbon and New York. Since 2009, the professor has held the Chair in Epistemology, Modern and Contemporary Philosophy at the University of Bonn. He is also Director of the university’s International Centre for Philosophy and the interdisciplinary Center for Science and Thought. He is one of the founding directors of the Institute for Philosophy and the New Humanities at the New School for Social Research in New York City. Since 2024, he is also Senior Global Advisor at the Kyoto Institute of Philosophy.
