About Julian Nida-Rümelin
Julian Nida-Rümelin is one of Germany’s most renowned philosophers. He teaches at the University of Munich and works on topics such as rationality theory, political philosophy and ethics. Nida-Rümelin is a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is a director at the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt). From 1998 until 2002, he entered the field of cultural policy-making, among other things, as a Secretary of State for Culture in the first cabinet of Chancellor Schroeder. He received the Bavarian Order of Merit in 2019. Since May 2020, he has been the vice-chair of the German Ethics Council. His most recent publication, “The Reality of Risk: A Rational Approach to the Unknowable” was co-written with Nathalie Weidenfeld and released in spring 2021.
