The feminine revolution – Christina Clemm and Camille Froidevaux-Metterie oppose patriarchal violence
Event is part of the “Night of Ideas” of the Institut français.
Gender-specific violence against women is everywhere – in Germany, in France, and around the world. Feminist debates reflect manifold positions that reveal various perspectives of the body, power and participation in society. In her startling report, Gegen Frauenhass [“Opposing Misogyny”], family rights and criminal lawyer Christina Clemm draws on real-life cases to describe how systematically women experience violence – and how often the state lets them down. Based on the work of Simone de Beauvoir, French philosopher Camille Froidevaux-Metterie, whose work includes “La révolution du féminin” [“The Feminine Revolution”], researches the female body as a place of violence and shame, but also as a source of resistance and emancipation. She creates a philosophical foundation for a new self-understanding of the female body. Translation: Norbert Heikamp; Host: Annabelle Hirsch
