About Maria-Sibylla Lotter

Professor Maria-Sibylla Lotter received a scholarship from Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst to attend university in Freiburg im Breisgau, Berlin and St. Louis, where she studied philosophy, religious studies and ethnology. She gained her doctorate at TU Berlin in 1994 with a thesis on Alfred North Whitehead. From 1989 until 1999, she taught as a research associate in Berlin and Heidelberg. She subsequently lectured at various universities in Germany and Switzerland and completed her postdoctoral qualification at the faculty of philosophy at the University of Zurich in 2010. Lotter was appointed as a professor for ethics and aesthetics at Ruhr University Bochum in 2014.
