Ivan Krastev is chairman of the Centre for Liberal Strategies in Sofia and Albert Hirschman fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna. He is a founding member of the European Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the board of trustees of the International Crisis Group, of the Global Advisory Council of the European Investment Bank and of the board of directors of think tank GLOBSEC. He is a Financial Times contributing editor and author of the books “Is it Tomorrow, Yet? How the Pandemic Changes Europe” (2020), “The Light that Failed: A Reckoning” (2019, co-written with Stephen Holmes and awarded the 2020 Lionel Gelber Prize), “After Europe” (2017), “Democracy Disrupted: The Global Politics of Protest” (2014) and “In Mistrust We Trust: Can Democracy Survive When We Don’t Trust Our Leaders?” (2013).
