Daniel Leese is a professor of Chinese studies at the University of Freiburg, focusing on the history and politics of modern China. His recent publications include: “Mao’s Long Shadow” (2020), “Chinesisches Denken der Gegenwart. Schlüsseltexte zu Politik und Gesellschaft” [“Contemporary Chinese Thinking: Key Texts on Politics and Society”] (2023) and “Justice After Mao” (2023).
