Bitcoin: Change the money, change the world? With Ijoma Mangold and René Pickhardt
Money is power. But what if the nature of money were to fundamentally change? As is occurring right now in the form of cryptocurrencies, and foremost among them: Bitcoin! For its fervent adherents, Bitcoin, based on blockchain technology, is nothing less than a revolution in our planet’s political and economic systems. They dream of a world without sovereign currencies, central banks, exchange rates, wars, and not least: without inflation! Critics, by contrast, regard Bitcoin as an anti-state, inherently criminal and ecologically devastating speculation object of digital elites.
A discussion with the cultural philosopher and declared Bitcoin advocate Ijoma Mangold (DIE ZEIT) and information scientist and Bitcoin coder René Pickhardt, former member of the Pirate Party, on the question of which money should rule the world.
