The movement of life: the philosophy of dance - with Martin Schläpfer and Marco Wehr

Martin Schläpfer comes from a Swiss Alpine farming family, and is today the best known ballet choreograph in Europe. Marco Wehr is a physicist and philosopher who wrote his doctorate on chaos theory. The two men share a passion for dance. They think about the dancing human, they help others to fulfil themselves in harmonious movements and they themselves take the stage to dance. Dance is an art of movement that was long overshadowed by the other arts. But what is true for music and painting also applies here: we would not need dance if we could express everything in words. We learn something essential about the other person when we watch them dance, and we experience something about ourselves when we dance. Schläpfer’s ballet is about the movement of life, and his credo is, “Keep the fire burning – don’t pray to the ashes.”
