Prof. Dr. Christian Schärf, born 1960 in Ludwigshafen, is a literary scholar, essayist and critic. As a professor, he teaches at the Institute for Literary Writing and Literature Studies at the University of Hildesheim, and conducts research focusing on literary writing, media history of literature, literary imagology, essay and essayism research and other topics. Christian Schärf also writes for SWR and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on a freelance basis. His Nietzsche novel “Winter in Nizza” appeared in 2014, his collection of essays “Der Flug der Fledermaus” in 2015 and his novel “Die Reise des Zeichners” on the young Johann Wolfgang Goethe in 2016.
