Prof. Dr. Bernhard Schlink, born 1944, is professor for public law and legal philosophy at Humboldt University Berlin. He previously held professorships in Bonn and Frankfurt am Main. From 1987 to 2005 he was a Justice of the Constitutional Court of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in Munster. He is a guest professor at the Banjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York and an Honorary Fellow at St. Anne’s College, Oxford. His research covers the topics of justice, dogmatism, law and literature. Schlink is also a successful author; his publications include the international best-seller “The Reader” (1995), “Flights of Love” (2000) and “Self’s Murder” (2001). Recent works include “The Woman on the Stairs” (2014) and “Erkundungen” (2015).
