About Mithu Sanyal

Born in Düsseldorf in 1971, Mithu Sanyal is a cultural scholar, author, journalist and critic. For her audio plays and features, primarily for WDR, she has won the Dietrich Oppenberg Media Prize from the Reading Foundation three times. She also works for various broadcasters and newspapers, including BR, SWR, Deutschlandfunk, the Federal Agency for Civil Education, and Die Zeit. She published the non-fiction books “Vulva - a cultural history of the female genitalia” in 2009 and “Rape. Aspects of a Crime” in 2016. Her first novel, “Identitti”, was released in 2021.
