About Michael Hirz
Michael Hirz is a journalist and presenter. After completing his studies in linguistics and political science, he trained as a journalist at the newspaper Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger. He switched from the print medium newspapers to the broadcaster WDR in Cologne, where he spent 10 years as the head of the culture department for television. From 2008 until 2018, he was head of the television station Phoenix. At the same time, he regularly hosted programs with a wide range of guests, including Günter Grass, Angela Merkel, Jean Claude Juncker and Richard David Precht. Michael Hirz now works as a freelance journalist for various media, specializing in politics and culture. He is also a university lecturer for journalism and a consultant.
