About Michael Hampe

Michael Hampe, born in 1961, studied philosophy in Heidelberg and Cambridge. Following professorships in Kassel and Bamberg, he joined the ETH Zurich in 2003. His focus is on the history of philosophy, in particular the early renaissance and pragmatism. Hampe examines the relationship between argument and narrative, for instance in such works as “Die Lehren der Philosophie” from 2014, as well as authoring his own works of narrative philosophy such as “Das vollkommene Leben. Vier Meditationen über das Glück” (2009) and “Tunguska oder Das Ende der Natur” (2011). His most recent book, “Die Dritte Aufklärung”, appeared in 2018.
