About Catherine Newmark
Dr. Catherine Newmark holds a doctorate in philosophy. From 2007-2013 she was a research assistant at the Institute of Philosophy of the Free University Berlin. In 2008, she published “Passion – Affekt – Gefühl. Philosophische Theorien der Emotionen zwischen Aristoteles und Kant” [“Passion – Affect – Feeling. Philosophical Theories of the Emotions between Aristotle and Kant”]. As a cultural journalist focusing on film, philosophy and humanities, she writes for various newspapers and magazines. She works as a writer and editor for Deutschlandfunk Kultur and is responsible for special editions of “Philosophie Magazin”. In addition, she is a columnist for Zeit Online and for Nordwestradio. Her latest publications include “Warum Autorität?” [“Why Authority?”] (with Hilge Landweer in “Deutsche Zeitschrift für Philosophie”, 65.3/2017) and “Viel zu lernen du noch hast. Star Wars und die Philosophie” [“Much to Learn You Still Have. Star Wars and Philosophy”] (2016).
