About Bernhard Schlink

Lawyer and author Bernhard Schlink was born near Bielefeld in 1944. His novel “The Reader” was published in 1995. It was translated into more than 50 languages and adapted to film by Stephen Daldry in 2009. Schlink has won national and international awards. For his writing work, he was awarded the Pak Kyong-ni Prize by the Toji Cultural Foundation (2014) and the Prize of the German-British Forum (2002). Bernhard Schlink lives in Berlin and New York.
