About Alexandra Kraus

Alexandra Kraus is a music teacher (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz), concert recorder player and shakuhachi master.
Intensive Zen training and meditation have accompanied her on her musical path for more than two decades and led her to study the shakuhachi in the tradition of the Kokusai Shakuhachi Kenshukan Japan ("KSK": International Shakuhachi Society) with the shakuhachi masters Jim Franklin and Teruo Furuya, Tokyo. In 2020 she was awarded the title "Shihan" (Master) and it with accreditation as a teacher of KSK Europe.
Alexandra Kraus performs as a soloist in church and symphony concerts as well as in baroque opera productions. In addition, she regularly accompanies meditation seminars and Zen sesshins musically at Benediktushof Holzkirchen and other locations. As a teacher with many years of experience, she leads courses and workshops throughout Germany.
